2017-18…

Open Spirit Wild Wisdom School

In July 2017, we concluded our first Wild Wisdom School three year course. Visit our journal page to read the story of our wisdom journey. Reflective practice on this work is now forming the foundation of Sam's PhD in transformative learning, focussed on the theme of the Sacred Marriage. Due to this research project in progress, we are now pausing the offering of the Wild Wisdom School course and yet we very much hope to make it available to more students in future.

Please get in touch with any questions and to register your interest. Our courses welcome a maximum of 12 people each year to enable intimacy and a real opportunity for depth and transformative learning.

Community Days will be offered in future for existing and prospective members.

Open Spirit courses:

WILD WISDOM ONE -The Restoration of Love & Holding Sacred Space

A holistic learning community journeying together through a year with an introductory day and five weekend retreats exploring western spirituality.

From September each gathering explores both a holistic method of learning that engages head and heart, body and spirit and also material that restores the love of the Divine Feminine to our often masculine conceptions and experiences of God.

Together we are travelling through her/history and Mystery to create our own thealogy and theology, our own understanding and experience of the Divine.

In this first year, we come into community from Friday tea time and on the Saturdays, we are diving deeply into the ancient cultures and myths underpinning the Hebrew Bible (Christian Old Testament) alongside looking at parallel traditions from our native pre-her/history and Druidic/Celtic traditions from an open feminist perspective. Sundays are offering a more practical exploration of personal and shared spiritual practice as a basis for service

Future dates to be confirmed in due course but previously on the third weekend of the month

WILD WISDOM TWO - Christian Mysteries

Open to both both new students and those who have completed Year One, this Year Two course takes us deeper into the Christian Mysteries from their Classical and Jewish roots, through native expression in Celtic Christianity and Arthurian Myth to the mystics of the Middle Ages.

Year Two is also be offered with an introductory day and 5 weekends to facilitate a retreat experience and allow time to deepen individual and shared spiritual practice – , with the option of ongoing community days and field trips

This course takes us further into 'The Restoration of Love' as we continue to explore the roots and unfolding of the Christian Spirituality from a radical, feminist and interspiritual perspective. We are a strongly interfaith community and respect for difference (and difficulty!) is central.

We journey from the roots of Cretan, Greek and Roman culture and myth and into early Jesus and Mary movements. We touch into early monasticism, from the Essenes, to the Desert Mothers and Fathers and later Celtic Christianity, and draw inspiration from the women and men of Arthurian stories and the Matter of Britain. We search for founding Mothers of the Church to balance traditional emphasis on 'Founding Fathers' and grow appreciation for 'Matristics' and female mystics up until the Middle Ages. A third year may then be on the horizon!
